Vince Gilligan Reveals He Has an Idea of How The Apple TV+ Show Will Conclude... Currently.

Vince Gilligan never anticipated that Pluribus would become a massive hit. “I am so grateful to the audience,” he remarks. “It was unexpected the show being as widely discussed as it is, and it makes me thrilled beyond words.”

Now that Season 1 of the acclaimed program wrapping up—and Season 2 officially in the works—Gilligan and his team reflected on the audience reaction and whether it will impact the storyline of Pluribus.

Regarding the Overwhelming Viewer Reception

One could easily to get swayed by the constant speculation and fan theories surrounding Pluribus. Gilligan, however, is making a conscious effort to ignore the noise.

“It feels like an endless supply of your favorite dessert and being in a state of bliss,” he explains. “It's wonderful, but I get wind of it anecdotally, and that's by design. I have never searched for my own name online, nor do I ever want to. It's not a lack of interest. It's a rabbit hole I know I would disappear down and then I'd be never leaving the house from the hardware store and I'd never leave my living room.”

Regardless of his concerted efforts, there’s it's impossible to ignore the overwhelmingly positive response to the series. The only approach for the writers is to acknowledge it humbly and try not to let it influence the direction of the show.

“It is not our goal to adjust our writing,” says Alison Tatlock. “Our storytelling is not changed by what people are saying.”

“It's wiser to keep our focus on the work,” Gilligan adds.

The Central Mystery: Will Vince Gilligan Have a Plan for the Conclusion of Pluribus?

So if the creative staff aren't taking cues by public opinion, does it imply they already know how Pluribus will reach its endpoint? In short yes… in a way.

“There are some interesting ideas about where the show might end up,” he states. “however, we remain prepared to throw out a solid concept for a more brilliant plan. That has held us in excellent shape on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We change course when we find a more perfect path and I expect we'll continue doing that.”

Alternatively, if all else fails, Gordon Smith has a pretty funny idea to use as a backup.

“I constantly suggest that the entire story is inside a snow globe, and that we'll reveal the snow globe and we're in there,” Smith quips, “though the idea hasn't gained traction.”

Alternatively, one could always use the iconic TV endings?

“My dream is Carol to wake up in bed next to Bob Newhart,” Gilligan adds, smiling.

Pluribus can be watched on Apple TV+.
