Toronto Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Meeting Against Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer contributed to the Astros winning the World Series in the 2017 season.

Toronto's Blue Jays reached their first World Series after the 1993 season by defeating the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing 3-1, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh inning, propelling the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series triumph in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the anticipated Fall Classic.

"It's incredible for this squad, the city, our country," commented Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "What an amazing experience."

George Springer has now slugged 23 total October home runs, ranking him third on the list behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).

"I can't think of another player in the world that I want up in that moment besides George Springer with his post-season brilliance," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, who had led the early in the series, are still the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Manager Dan Wilson stated "certainly that it's painful" in the wake of his team's loss at their home ballpark, but applauded their work throughout the year.

"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this game," he added.

Toronto's team claimed the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Los Angeles in game one on this Friday.
