Six Suspects Apprehended Following 12 Million Euro Armed Raid on Gold Refining Lab in the French Republic

Six armed perpetrators carrying military-grade weapons employed explosives to force entry into a gold refining laboratory located in Lyon, resulting in minor injuries to five workers during what is being called the most recent prominent daylight theft to occur in the nation.

The audacious robbery took place on Thursday afternoon, with police forces quickly arresting the alleged criminals and retrieving the loot estimated to be worth €12M (10.5 million pounds), officials reported.

Five staff members of Laboratoires Pourquery received light wounds as a result of the detonation, and three individuals required hospital checks for evaluation, the regional prefecture announced. Twenty-eight workers were inside the facility when the robbers attacked.

The individuals, thought to be career criminals, were taken into custody soon afterwards in the adjacent municipality of Vénissieux, authorities revealed.

A female participant involved in the heist was taken into custody as well, a police source indicated.

“Six suspects who employed explosive devices in a raid against a precious metals company in Lyon were caught in the act,” the nation's interior minister stated online, praising officers for their “decisiveness, speed and control”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were also confiscated.

The heist took place as French police on the same day arrested five more suspects, including a primary suspect, in relation to the recent audacious theft at the Louvre.

Numerous detectives have been pursuing four robbers who used a vehicle equipped with a moving lift and cutting equipment to break into an upper-level exhibition space at the museum on October 19th, escaping with jewelry valued at approximately €88 million.

In another notable incident, burglars recently forced their way into the Parisian museum of natural history, stealing gold samples valued at more than one million dollars. A woman from China, aged 24 was arrested earlier this month in Barcelona, Spain in relation to the burglary, according to legal authorities.

This series of robberies has sparked worry in the nation regarding insufficient protection at cultural venues and other facilities containing precious artifacts.
