Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the points lead from Piastri by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team ran a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four soon after starting.
The Japanese spun out over the track edges before rotating through the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill corner approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran ended the session in 19th place, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's car in third, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
