LA Explodes in Jubilation as Los Angeles Dodgers Claim Second World Series Championship
Los Angeles experienced citywide festivities after the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a thrilling seven-match World Series championship. Supporters across the globe united with Angelenos in celebration, marking the initial time in 25 years that a franchise has achieved back-to-back championships.
Victory Parade Draws Enormous Crowds
Los Angeles area events featured a procession through the city center on the morning of the parade, a reserved-seating event at the team's home stadium, and spontaneous parties throughout the city.
Social media videos show countless of Angelenos flooding city center avenues, many carrying homemade signs and Dodger flags. The team was seen riding high on a open-top bus through the crowds, hoisting the Commissioner’s trophy high.
“I’m already thinking about the third time we’re going to do this,” the star player remarked through an interpreter.
The parade route ended at the stadium, where the players emerged to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard providing music and the artist driving a light blue vintage Cadillac around the stadium’s outfield.
Early Celebrations and Player Reactions
Celebrations started well before the procession, with supporters setting off flares in the roads of Downtown Los Angeles on Sunday night.
The World Series MVP, named the World Series’ Most Valuable Player, commented plainly about the win.
“We refuse to lose,” Yamamoto said. “I adore this team. I love Los Angeles.”
Varied Responses and City Unity
In contrast, the team owner received a less warm reception at the celebration. Video footage from the event seem to depict Walter taking the stage to a mix of applause and boos, with jeers interrupting his speech.
The World Series acted as a bright spot in what has been a challenging year for Los Angeles. An estimated quarter-million people showed up to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to Dodgers player Freddie Freeman, fans this year demonstrated as much if not more enthusiasm.
“I feel like it’s almost double from last year,” Freeman said. “These fans are crazy. It’s truly amazing to be a part of this.”
