Jurgen Klopp says rejoining to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club is something that could happen. The 58-year-old, after a transformative near-decade reign which brought Champions League success and ending the club's long wait for three decades, has since taken on roles as head of global soccer for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity with the German Football League.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

They secured the Premier League last season, though countless followers holding him in high esteem would embrace the idea of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with the podcast host: “I stated I refuse to lead another team within the country. Which implies in case it's my former club...yes. It's plausible.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests I could make the decision later on, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

When asked about what circumstances would need to occur to draw him back to management, he revealed he was not instantly drawn for a comeback. “I don’t even know exactly, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing during downpours for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip media briefings repeatedly each week or constant media duties weekly.

“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, but sitting in a restaurant with the players enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. With many victories meaning regularly positive atmosphere in the building. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh vividly recalled for example.”

Praise for His Successor

He commended for his successor, crediting him for the tweaks which secured the championship in the previous season. The team has suffered four in a row in every contest post heavy investment, though he denied the suggestion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. This is a well-built well-judged squad. No need for concern about Liverpool, they will be fine.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of Diogo Jota, whom he brought in while in charge, and its impact on Liverpool. The Portugal international lost his life in a car crash alongside his brother this past summer.

“Who can fill the void of somebody like Diogo? It’s not about his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the dressing room missing him. Putting it into words is tough regarding this. A devastating blow for the entire squad too. Not a single person will ever use it as an excuse yet it's the reality. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Dealing with that on a personal level is difficult. Unbearable.”
